Privacy Policy | My Eastern Astrology

This policy explains what personal information My Eastern Astrology collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

1. Who we are

We are the data controller for the information described in this policy. For any privacy question, write to us at hello@myeasternastrology.com.

2. What we collect

Information you give us directly:

Your name and email address.
Your birth date, birth time, birth place and gender — the details required to calculate a BaZi chart.
Anything you choose to write to us: your questions, the areas of life you want covered, and messages sent through the contact form or by email.

Information collected automatically:

Basic technical data from your visit, such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, used to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies. Essential cookies keep the site working. We also use Google Analytics — only if you accept it in the cookie banner — to understand how visitors use the site. The site works fully if you decline. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

Payment information:

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our systems. We receive only the confirmation of payment, the amount, and the billing name and email.

A note on birth data. Your birth date, time and place are not "special category" data under the GDPR, but we understand they feel personal. We treat them as confidential, use them only to prepare your reading, and never publish, sell or share them for marketing.

Birth details of another person. If you order a reading that involves someone else — for example a compatibility reading — please make sure you have that person’s permission to share their birth details with us. We protect their information exactly as we protect yours. And if you choose to include sensitive personal context in your questions (for example about your health), we use it only to prepare your reading and for nothing else.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

To prepare and deliver the reading or forecast you ordered — legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
To answer your questions and provide customer support — performance of our contract, and our legitimate interest in running a responsive service.
To keep accounting and tax records — legal basis: our legal obligations under Cyprus law.
To send our newsletter, if you subscribed — legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
To keep the website secure and improve it — our legitimate interests, balanced against your privacy.

We do not use your data to make automated decisions that produce legal effects, and we do not profile you for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need in order to operate, each of whom is bound to protect it:

Stripe — payment processing.
Google Analytics — anonymous statistics about how visitors use the site, and only if you accept analytics cookies.
Our hosting and email providers — to run the website and to send you your reading.
Substack — only if you subscribe to our newsletter, and only your email address.
Our accountants and auditors — invoice and payment records, for tax compliance.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, for example in response to a lawful request from a public authority.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers are based outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by an adequacy decision of the European Commission or by Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable.

6. How long we keep it

Order and payment records: six years, as required by Cyprus tax and accounting law.
Your birth details and the reading we prepared: kept so that we can answer follow-up questions and so you can request a replacement copy. You may ask us to delete them at any time.
Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.
Contact form messages that do not lead to an order: up to twelve months.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Have inaccurate data corrected.
Have your data erased, where there is no overriding legal reason for us to keep it.
Restrict or object to how we use it.
Receive your data in a portable format.
Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.

To exercise any of these, email hello@myeasternastrology.com. We will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus (dataprotection.gov.cy), or to the supervisory authority in your own country.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls and reputable service providers. No system is completely secure, but we take this seriously and will notify you and the regulator where required if a breach occurs.

9. Children

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by email to customers where appropriate.
